Katavasiae

This is the last part of an Ode of the Canon. The first part is the Irmos, then each troparia, then the final Katabasia.

Archangels (November 8th), Katabasia Ode 9

This Katabasia, Ode 9, is sung from November 8th (Feast of the Archangels) until November 20th, inclusive, which includes the changes for the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple.  "Let all earth-born mortals . . . celebrate with honor the holy entrance of the Mother of God . . . ."

This is the Katabasia of the 9th Ode (without magnification) of the First Canon for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, sung on August 1, August 6-13 and August 24-September 21.  (On August 6th, the double canon is sung.)  "Thou art the mystical paradise . . . ."

This is the Katabasia of the 9th Ode of the First Canon of the Dormition of the Theotokos.  "All generations bless thee . . .  In thee, O spotless Virgin . . . ."

These two Katabasiae of the 9th Ode of the Cross (without magnifications) conclude the Canon on the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord on August 6th.  "Thou art the mystical paradise . . . Verily, death which befell the human race . . . ."

This is the Katabasia of Ode 9 for the Canon of the Feast of the Transfiguration, sung from July 27-31 and August 2-5.  "Thy birth-giving, O Theotokos, has been shown free of corruption . . . ."

Pascha, Katabasia-9th Ode-Megalynarion (chant)

This is the Katabasia of the 9th Ode of the Canon for Pascha: The Resurrection of Christ.  It is also sung as the Megalynarion in the Divine Liturgy on Pascha, and the Sundays of the Myrrh-bearing Women and the Blind Man.  The music is in Western & Byzantine notation.  "The angel cried . . . Shine, shine, O new Jerusalem . . . ."
