Metropolitan Silouan Elected for Archidiocese of Argentina

The following is excerpted from an article posted on the web site of the Patriarchate of Antioch on October 5:
“The Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East convened at the Monastery of the Prophet Elias (Dayr Mar Ilyas Shwaya) on October 3 and 4 under the presidency of His Beatitude Patriarch IGNATIUS IV … After gathering in the monastery’s church, the members of the Holy Synod proceeded with the election of a new Metropolitan for the widowed Archdiocese of Argentina. Elected to that position was Archimandrite Silouan Mousa.
Archimandrite Silouan was born in Lebanon in 1967 and holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Beirut’s University of St. Joseph and a master’s degree in Orthodox theology from the University of Thessalonika. In addition to his native Arabic, Archimandrite Silouan is fluent in French, English and Greek.”
