St. Antonina of Nicea, Martyr

St. Antonina suffered during the third century under Emperor Diocletian in the city of Nicea. She was tortured in various ways – she was burned with fire, burned on a red-hot plate, had red-hot rods bored into her hands and feet, and then was thrown into prison.

These torments did not break St Antonina’s spirit, and to her very death she confessed her faith in Christ. She was ultimately thrown into the sea where she received a martyr’s crown.
