Using an informal and informative format, Fr. John Winfrey and Fr. John Fenton will lead four structured discussions on how the Christian Faith is lived in the Orthodox Western Tradition.

V. Rev. Fr. John G. Winfrey is the pastor of St. George Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids, MI. He is a former Episcopalian from the Anglo-Catholic tradition. He was a Postulant for Holy Orders in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth before becoming Orthodox.

Rev. Fr. John Fenton is the pastor of Holy Incarnation Orthodox Church in Lincoln Park, MI (near Detroit), a Western Rite parish in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese. He is also the Assistant to the Vicar General of the Western Rite Vicariate. Fr. Fenton has two earned Masters degrees from a Lutheran seminary and was formerly a Lutheran (LCMS) minister.

7:30 p.m. Session I - True Christian Life in America: What makes a true Christian life possible in 21st century America? What provides lasting peace for the soul? Fathers Fenton and Winfrey will draw on the history, teaching and experience of the Church to address these and related questions.

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

9:00 a.m. Mass
10:30 a.m. Session II - Living the Faith Daily: Relying on the wisdom and experience of the fathers, Fr. Winfrey will discuss practical, concrete means for living this true life in a world where lack of self- discipline leads to scandal.
11:30 a.m. Break
12:00 p.m. Third hour
12:30 p.m. Lunch
2:00 p.m. Session III - The Western Tradition of Worship: Fr Fenton will discuss how the stability of the Western Liturgical tradition fosters both the environment and the community for authentic Christian living.
3:00 p.m. Break
3:30 p.m. Session IV – Potpourri: This session will be devoted to issues raised by the participants during previous sessions.
5:00 p.m. Vespers
