Attention all Priests and Deacons of the Diocese:

We are pleased to announce at this time initial details regarding our Annual Clergy Brotherhood Retreat with His Grace, Bishop MARK, for the Midwest Diocese.

Saidna Mark has discussed with his Presbyters’ Council the importance of continuing to develop this Clergy Retreat to encourage our clergy to gather for a focused time of prayer, renewal, and fellowship, and to support us in the many spiritual and ethical challenges we face in our priestly ministries.

Please mark your calendar to attend this important event, and e-mail reply to register and reserve accommodation at the Monastery (first-come-first-served).


$20.00 Registration Fee will cover travel/accommodation costs for our presenter. Please send $20.00 check payable to: Diocese of Toledo/Memo: Clergy Brotherhood Retreat. Registration fee is due no later than November 24th.

Up to 24 clergy can be accomodated at the Holy Dormition Monastery Guest House. Hotel accommodations may be had in near-by Jackson, Michigan. Hotels near the Monastery are all at I 94 & 127: Hampton Inn (517) 789-5151/ Fairfield Inn (517) 784-7877/ Comfort Inn (517) 768-0088.

We ask each priest/deacon staying at the Monastery to give a donation of $125.00 or more (check payable to Holy Dormition Monastery) to cover accommodations and meals for the retreat. For those staying off-site, we ask that a donation of $50.00 or more be offered to the Monastery.

Tuesday, November 30

  • 3:30-5:00 PM: Arrival
  • 5:00 PM: Vespers     
  • 6:15 PM: Dinner
  • 7:30 PM: Opening session with His Grace, Bishop Mark
  • 8:30 PM: Fellowship

Wednesday, December 1

  • 5:00-8:30 AM: Orthros/ Hours/Divine Liturgy
  • 8:30-9:00 AM: Breakfast
  • 9:00-11:00 AM: 1st Presentation
  • 12:30-1:30 PM: Lunch/fellowship
  • 1:30-3:00 PM: 2nd Presentation
  • 3:00-5:00 PM: Free time
  • 5:00-6:00 PM: 9th Hour/Vespers
  • 6:15-7:00 PM: Dinner/fellowship
  • 7:00-8:30 PM: 3rd Presentation & discussion                   

Thursday, December 2

  • 5:00-7:30 AM: Orthros/Hours/Typica
  • 8:00-9:00AM: Breakfast
  • 9:00-10:30 AM: 4th Presentation & wrap-up
  • 10:30-11:30 AM: Discussion time with Bp. Mark
  • 12:30- 1:00 PM: Lunch/Departure

All Liturgical Services are with the monastic Community and following their Typicon.
