Upcoming Teacher Development Workshops: Nov. 9 and 16

Deacon Elisha Long will present a two-session workshop at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral​ in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, November 9. After celebrating a Divine Liturgy for the Feast of St. Nektarios, participants will enjoy the enrichment course "Promise & Preparation: Finding Christ in the Old Testament." Dn. Elisha will explore the Old Testament as it relates to revealing Christ. Following a provided lunch, Dn. Elisha will discuss classroom strategies and approaches to help your students learn and retain what is being taught. Cost is $25 per person.

  • St. Michael Orthodox Church, Geneva, NY will host a Teacher Development Workshop on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Father Christopher Rigden-Briscall, Department of Christian Education Coordinator of Ottawa and Upstate NY, will present sessions for teachers, church school directors, and parents. "Overview of Orthodox Christian Education" will offer an overview of Orthodoxy within the context of teaching and outline curriculum & resources available. "Enhancing the Classroom Experience" will help workshop participants discern their gifts and strengths and learn how to use them. "Engaging the Un-Engaged: Teaching Challenging Children/Youth and Children/Youth with Challenges" is a "how-to" for leading our children and youth into life in Christ.

    Please post the attached flyer in your Sunday Church School wing for teachers to see. A schedule for the day and a registration form are also available. There is no cost for this day of fellowship and retreat!
